Materials
Materials are the inputs you consume to make fabric — chiefly yarn and accessories. JennyERP lets you keep a catalog of these alongside greige fabric, so every component that goes into a finished product has its own record, supplier, and stock figure.
What counts as a material
| Type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Yarn | Cotton, polyester, blended and specialty yarns |
| Accessories | Trims, labels, zippers, packaging and other consumables |
Material records
Each material carries the details you need to source and cost it:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Code | The material's reference code |
| Name | Material name |
| Composition | Fiber content or specification |
| Color | Color, where relevant |
| Width / Weight | Specs that apply to the material |
| Unit | Unit of measure (e.g. kg, m, pcs) |
| Unit price | Purchase cost |
| Supplier | Who you buy it from |
| Stock | Quantity on hand |
Materials and stock
Like greige, materials can be received into stock and drawn down as they're consumed. Keeping yarn and accessories as their own records means:
- Material costs feed cleanly into product costing
- You always know what's on hand before committing to an order
- Purchasing stays tied to the right supplier
TIP
Treat materials (yarn, accessories) and greige (base fabric) as separate catalogs from your finished goods. That separation keeps stock and cost figures accurate as inputs turn into sellable product.
